Tatjana Buisson, a Cape Town graphic designer/ art director and James Kydd, a Londolozi game ranger, got together with two friends for an epic five month adventure around South America. They picnicked in the Argentinian snow under the seven kilometer high Aconcagua, bought a van in Chile and smuggled it into Peru, broke down in the middle of the Atacama, the driest desert in the world, drank shamanic potions in the Peruvian Amazon, hunted for orchids and tracked a puma in the Choco cloud-forest of Ecuador, watched the sun set over an erupting volcano, celebrated carnival with hundreds of demonic dancers and watched a lake turn within minutes from brown to turquoise in the highlands of Bolivia. This is a photographic journal of their time on the road.

James’ background is firmly planted in the world of nature conservation as a wilderness guide in South Africa. His responsibilities ranged from tracking and studying wild animals (in the South African low-veld) such as Leopards, Lions, Elephants and Rhinos. He also occasionally rescues tortoises from potential danger. He takes his work very seriously.
He enjoys a good workout in the mornings. A little run here, some push-ups there and then some weights if he has the time. Heavy objects are sometimes hard to come by in the wild and James is great at improvising.
In his spare time, he likes to sing. Hitting that note is definitely James’ forté. If you meet him, and he has the time he might treat you with a cover of “postman pat”.
James Takes nature conservation very seriously. He’ll be the first to put a stop to disrespectful tourists and poachers with his leading edge subliminal techniques.
Tat’s a big fan of bubbles. They make her happy. Especially when the sun’s shining on the hill and her wonderpants is by her side.
She also likes to shove fresh appeltêrt & slagroom in her face. A lot.
Sometimes, when it gets really hot, she likes to play Marilyn Marilyn. But only when it gets really hot.
When it comes to pictures, Tatjana’s puts her life at risk for the right shot. James also likes to take pictures when Tat’s taking pictures under heavy machinery. They’re a great team like that.
